Team Crocker’s Season Ends With a Quarter Final Finish at the Players’ Championship

Last week in Toronto Team Crocker played in their final event of the season, the Players’ Championship. This is one of the most prestigious events on tour, inviting only the top 15 teams on the World Rankings.

The girls had a slow start, losing their first 2 games to Tirinzoni of Switzerland and the World Silver Medalists, team Sigfridsson of Swede

n. Heading into their third game they were in a must-win situation to keep their playoff hopes alive. They played a strong game against Sherry Middaugh of Ontario, winning 9-3 in 7 ends. They then played Jennifer Jones of Manitoba in a game that they needed to win to get into a tiebreaker. Team Crocker was down 1 with the hammer heading into the final end, and scored 3 points to win and stay alive.

In the tiebreaker, they played Chelsea Carey of Manitoba and after a big steal of 3 in the fourth end, they hung on to win the game 6-4. The quarter final was a rematch with Sweden’s Margaretha Sigfridsson, and unfortunately after giving up 3 in the first end Team Crocker didn’t have many opportunities to score multiple points and couldn’t come back. To qualify for playoffs in a field of the best teams in the world is still quite an accomplishment.

Team Crocker would like to send a huge thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters who made this season possible. Please check them out on our sponsors page and support them whenever possible!

Have a great summer!
